Dr. Jossie Abraham, NYCPM Class of 2006
By Rachel Maslow, Class of 2017

Dr. Jossie Abraham, DPM, graduated from NYCPM in 2006. She is currently working at Orthopedic Specialty Group in Fairfield, CT.

Dr. Abraham's pathway to podiatry started in high school, where she participated in many sports, but she also sustained many foot and ankle injuries. She would often need to be seen by a podiatrist, and soon wanted to become one herself. During her time at NYCPM, she was senior class president and was involved in the yearbook and Foot Ball committees. She was also a member of the basketball team and led many fundraisers for both the men's and women's teams.

After graduating from NYCPM, Dr. Abraham completed her residency at Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA. Following residency, she did a fellowship in foot and ankle deformity correction at the International Institute for Limb Lengthening, Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics, in Baltimore, MD. She also did a trauma fellowship at the AO-Trauma Center at the Hospital of Liestal, in Switzerland.

Today, Dr. Abraham is a member of the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association, Associate ACFAS and APMA. In addition, after only two years of being in practice, she was voted one of Connecticut Magazine's "Top Docs 2014".

When asked what she enjoys most about being a podiatrist, Dr. Abraham states, "The greatest feeling is knowing you've made an improvement in someone's quality of life." Dr. Abraham loves to help her patients understand their diagnosis and to provide solutions for them.

When asked to give advice for current podiatry students, "Work hard throughout your years of training, it will not go unnoticed," says Dr. Abraham. "Your learning experience is based on how much effort you put into it."
